Chinese Project

Our biggest project at present is taking place in a Chinese shipyard, for a foreign client. The work scope comprises:

  • marine conversion of 3x VLCCs which will become FPSOs to be deployed in deep water
  • construction of 4x 110 person Living Quarters modules.

APT set up the site team on behalf of the client and recruited the key personnel to work there. It performs ongoing supervision of the site team and assists with the interfacing with the engineering team which is based at the Client's HQ.

Sailaway of the first LQ Module

The first Living Quarters module sailed away in 2Q 2014 and is now on its way to the Client's yard where it will be lifted onto the hull of the FPSO and hooked up. Below is a picture of the module on the heavy transport vessel.

Some Internal Views

We show here some internal views of the first Living Quarters Module.

The construction standards are considered good for a Chinese shipyard although they aren't at the same level as those for Western yards. The pricing levels are however much lower hence a number of Western clients have placed contracts in China and this trend is likely to increase as the search for offshore oil in deep water increases.
